David: God's own heart Chapter 4 Jonathan - Knowing Jonathan is to be free from jealousy
Knowing Jonathan is to be free from jealousy
When it comes to friendship, Jonathan exemplified its highest form, earning the title of the greatest friend of all time. Upon his death, God may have awarded him many crowns, far surpassing the royal crown he would have inherited from his father.
To know Jonathan is to live free from jealousy. To understand Jonathan is to surrender all good things, things you were entitled forsaking what you deserve in exchange for God's glory.
The world has often misunderstood and misrepresented his deep love for David, wrongly equating it with homosexuality. Such interpretations reveal a profound lack of understanding both in this life and the next.
Jonathan’s love transcended crowns, riches, and even filial parental obedience when such obedience would have led him to evil. By choosing righteousness over blind loyalty, Jonathan won God's favor. Even after his death, David cherished Jonathan's memory, hunted down every corner of their empire to find his last living descendant to honor it instead of killing it. Jonathan’s virtue extended beyond his life, ensuring that David remained faithful to his promise, even when betrayed. Because of Jonathan's lasting sacrifice, David refused to harm any of his descendants.
Jonathan sowed pure love, and though he is gone, his actions continue to serve as a powerful lesson to David. It became impossible for David to respond with anything but blessings and protection for Jonathan's surviving family.
David learned the most important lesson of all: what a perfect friend truly looks like, feels like, and loves like. Jonathan’s love was priceless. Though evil forces tried to corrupt and slander it, they failed to understand its divine source and purpose. No amount of wickedness could taint Jonathan's love for David, for it was inspired by God Himself.✨
