Joshua: God who stood still Chapter 7

 "walled up to heaven"

Joshua excelled and did well with Meraglim's activities. After crossing a flood stage river the people of Israelites arrived for the first time in the land of Canaan their so-called promised land. So much to say yet so much to do as well.

The same thing applied, Joshua sent out spies and an advance party to scout the so-called "double-walled city of Jericho." It was described like this:

That suggestion of the evil spies that Canaan could never be conquered because the cities were "walled up to heaven " (Deuteronomy 1:28 ) would by this be forever silenced.

These walls are not the normal walls we see today. It must be so tall that it reaches up the skies in heaven. Maybe as high as our skyscrapers today.A megalithic wall structure may but some claim it is a "highly doubled wall" that no man shall trespass or conquer its land.

No wonder, 40 years ago, out of the 12 Meraglims sent, 10 of them saw terror& gave an unlikely report to Moses. Now they face the reality and only Joshua in faith pumps every man's heart & refuels them to obey God and then wait for God to act on the 7th day.

In fact, before the siege began, God commanded them to take a bath, consecrate themselves, and circumcise every male. In six days the Ark of the Lord will be paraded with their ministers resounding their dullest scariest trumpets of all. The Army behind these priests marched like lunatics, circling the walls with no sound coming from their mouths but stomps of their feet. What the heck is going on?

The bottom line is, there is a wall unbreakable by men but not with God.

Only in God's hand would be further reduced and hunted down in His own mighty ways. Only by God's strength & victory is guaranteed. No man can pound or hammer it down or deliver it to its reduced state. Unless the Lord works in His mighty ways, these walls are impossible to break & impassable to conquer.

Now we see a glimpse of the past, the walls of Jericho still unearthed to this day. We see the remains of the past forged in ashes and former glories is now a heap of piles. It is beyond recognizable to this day.

When God stood still, He tores down, it can't be undone. It is hunted down and destroyed forever.
