Joshua: God who stood still Chapter 4

 Meraglims! Spies

What does spying has to do with faith?

I think like what the 12 Meraglims (Meraglim in the book Torah means "spy") or 12 Princes of Israel, I would also wander writing Joshua in 40 days now.😇

Now what's the point of 40 days spying a.c.t.i.v.i.t.i.e.s.? These numbers "40 days spy" from Moses days will determine the Israelites' 40 years wandering in the desert. What can we learn?

Interestingly, God uses the test of time to harvest the hearts of his people. Whether they become mature or not God knows and is ready to accept what kind of faith these Meraglims have in 40 days. And so this event will even fortify God's faith too in whom among the 12 will struggle and who will become strong. Who will sin and who will not sin and carry out the plans and purpose of God which is to take over the promised land as promised to Father Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob (Israel).

Out of the 12 spies or Meraglims, only 2 came back with good news. From the tribes of Benjamin where Joshua belongs and from the tribes of Judah where Caleb sprung up.

The rest came to with the bad report which further shows how God punished the 2/12 low score of Israelites in terms of their faith, God is dismayed. God felt his chosen ones after being pulled out from Egypt and had witnessed God's hand upon them, it still thinks and acts like God is not among them, like God is not with them. This may have been sad to God and so He took all the time in the world and let them wander a bit in the span of 40 years and be with them a little longer than expected.

A day can be a thousand to God.

We can't hurry God or even extend longer if God wants a shortcut. We can scan Numbers 13 and further read that God isn't a delayer. In fact, I can sense that God wants the spying activity an instant victory but only if His chosen will agree with Him. And God may have felt a little gloomy later after He found out the majority of the 12 tribes didn't agree and spread false reports. It affected God and everyone else. It refutes and invalidates God's promises to Abraham. God may have said: "I have chosen you to be my people because I believed in your faith just as your Father Abraham had built his faith in Me."
