David: God's own heart Chapter 3: As a prophet

 As a prophet

Samuel receive his first revelation from God when he was still young delivering a message to Eli and his sons that Gods punishments for them is imminent and about to happen. After this incident, the elders of Israel found out that this young boy serving in God's temple was seeing and hearing from God directly.

I don't know about you but seeing God's revelation and hearing his words like his mouth or voice is just beside your ears may not  alarm or create goosebumps or trembling to your body. However with Samuel, this is so true as the bible explicitly put it in words to confirm it. Handling God the way Samuel did was truly difficult task for us relying on human strength. But Samuel was designed and you can say this, ordained by God to handle his direct revelations and prophecy for the people of Israel. This is no joke and not meant to take it lightly. Whenever he speaks, the instruction and authority is always reliable,  all should heed and obey or else, the dread would follow for those afflicted.

It is not an easy task to rebuke your Master, in this case its the High Priest Eli to predict his end and not only him, but his sons end as well. In Samuel's case, whatever his mouth speaks so does happens and does not need approval of men but of God alone. No one can understand nor can measure the gravity of this. Yet Samuel took this role very seriously and even in his younger years God already used him as a vessel to bless or curse his people.

Taking  all the names of listed prophets in the bible, Samuel is very different from them all. He took and embraced this role at very young age, when he was growing up, God added more roles. He  performed the role of a prophet to being a priest, a judge and kingmaker. His life is truly remarkable in this four in one roles and this gives us an idea that God can combine these roles into one being if He wills so. God is not afraid to show them all through Samuel and he performed this well with obedience and faith that what God is saying is true, so it is what would happen to an appointed time.
