David: God's own heart Chapter 1: King Maker and King revoker
The King-maker and King-revoker
Before a hunter king-maker was born, a promise-keeper mother named Hannah honored God in front of the High priest Eli. Without Hannah's plea to God and word of honor, King Saul and King David would have not been possible.
Samuel's purpose was wrapped in a three-in-one role. The first prophet of Israel, a priest and the last Judge of Israel.
Because the mother honored the Lord, so is God made her son grew and fulfill his holy duties before God.
As I read Samuel's life in the bible, it gives me goosebumps because Samuel hears the voice of the Lord like an ordinary companion who is just by his side day and night. All thoughout the boy's up until his adult life, God directed his path in the making of a king, developing a king, mentoring a king, selecting a king, installing a king, rejecting a king. Samuel is like big dog guarding & hunting not a Man-made king but God-made king. His early life began as the gatekeeper of God's temple being the temple boy High priest assistant of Eli, Samuel led by the Spirit of God was able to made and establish himself as the King-maker.
By God's supreme voice easily heard and recognized by Samuel. I don't know how he does this, maybe it is so natural for him that God's voice is just talking to him like God is his companion althrough out his life. In the hands of Samuel were awaiting 2 Kings to be annointed. One King whom he loved at first sight and mourned after God's rejection. And "the other King" whom he did not prefer but later on loved it twice as much after obeying the Lord's command to annoint the young David to rule Israel.
So as I deep dive into his life, let's not forget The king-maker story is all about this old verse in the bible: "To obey is better than sacrifice" (1 Sam. 15:22). Obedience is a trait or character that God strictly requires especially if its a command or an instruction. And yet, even godly kings failed to comply and Samuel is tool of God to make or revoke kings. Samuel experienced both and did not back off from this difficult job. God perfected Samuel on how to hold the power behind the throne of Israel and to overthrow powers after the throne of Israel.
